Inflatable structures bring excitement and energy to any event, but they also require proper safety measures to keep participants protected. Ensuring your inflatable equipment meets safety standards not only helps prevent accidents but also provides peace of mind for everyone involved.

Here are three essential safety requirements every operator and event planner needs to know: 

1. Watchdog Safety Alarm

Any inflatable structure over 8 feet tall must be equipped with a Watchdog Safety Alarm. This device detects blower failure or deflation and immediately sounds an alert, allowing operators to respond quickly and prevent potential injuries.

2. Impact Attenuation Material

Safety starts from the ground up. To help protect participants, it is essential to place impact-absorbing materials, such as mats or foam padding, within 4 feet of all entrances and exits. This precaution helps cushion falls, reduce the risk of slips, and creates a safer environment for anyone entering or exiting the inflatable.

3. Slide Netting for Safety

Inflatable slides must include safety netting to keep participants secure. The netting should be installed:

• One-third of the way down the slide surface
• One-third of the way up the climbing area

This setup helps ensure participants stay safely on the equipment while still enjoying the thrill of the ride.
