Case Study :: Business Property Insurance

Challenge:

  • A new client of ours was told by their former broker to disconnect their sprinkler system because, due to their business, the rate for fire insurance was cheaper in a building without a sprinkler system in it.

What We Did:

  • After careful analysis by our in-house control staff, we convinced our client's insurance company to waive the modifying factor about sprinklers, since it made little sense to penalize a client for having sprinkler systems throughout their building.

Results:

  • The insurance company took our recommendation and were able to continue to insure our client in a logically consistent manner. Our intervention helped our client save money while getting additional coverage, and they and their insurance carrier maintained a good relationship.
